Chapter 4: The darkened light

The light was blinding on Jacobs eyes, But it didn’t strain him for long. With a creak the light was moved aside to reveal an old man. The old man wore a large orange robe, he had various instruments that seemed to glow. “Sir, hold still” Said the figure.

Jacobs head was filled with worry as those words escaped the statues mouth. Jacob tried to struggle but his body was trapped against the straps that held him down. He moved frantically against the straps only to be stopped by the light of the blade above his head. It sent an endless shiver up his spine.

Suddenly like a mantra, The words “self preservation” Were chiming through his head. A beast inside him spoke these words. They seemed to escape into reality as blood escaped from his shoulder. The scalpel shot out of his arm, but it wasn’t the only thing released from the corrupted sanctuary that was his arm.

It was only a seconds grasp before Jacob realised were he was, what he was, what he accomplished. His body stood strong in an armoury. He thought he had been freed, as he stood watching the rack of swords in front of him. A bark cloud lingered from behind, but it soon pulled him around as he noticed the corpses lying behind him. He suddenly fell to the ground, blood escaping his body. That wasn’t the shock he suffered from most, it was almost god like as the armour on the wall in front of him seemed to shine.

Suddenly a large black branch like mandible escaped his left arm, moving towards the armour, pulling it in. Soon Jacob was standing in a black piece of armour, His head and left arm were the only part revealed from under the black blanket. The armour almost seemed to make Jacob appear like the monster he was fighting inside.

Jacobs mind was determined to escape, it was his only hope for survival, he knew he’d be hunted down if he stayed. It was logic, he was different , he killed and now he should be killed for his crimes.

He moved as his body were a stone tablet. His body struggling to take every step, his breath sounding like thunder, taking all the air, and releasing it in an endless cold clashing against the cold air.
His face seemed emotionless as he approached large doors to the castle courtyard.

As he placed his hands on the large door, he realise dhow beautiful this chaos was. He knew these thoughts weren’t his own, they couldn’t be.. His hands seemed to clamp up. He looked at the carvings in the door they made his eyes sparkle. The was a tiger fighting a large snake like master, the tiger was completely surrounded. He wanted to see the next image but his hand was on it, and he wasn’t about to turn back or stop for a minor detail.

He opened the door, the light seemed blinding but it wasn’t shocking. His body quivered at the lights. His opened eyes revealed a bigger shock. IT didn’t occur to him at first but the people standing in front of him. They weren’t trying to kill him, they wanted to stop him from escaping.

The soldiers were in a tin set of armour, covered in dragon etchings. They were like little stars in the sky. They stood out perfectly in the snow darkened courtyard, Dawn was approaching fast and was ready to take the world into its dark embrace. There armour had large spikes on the helmet heading behind them, like long ears. They held spears that seemed to be made of diamond, they sparkled, but the sparkle wasn’t entrancing, only repulsive.

The skyguard soldiers moved closer to him, bouncing back with every foot they moved. They were afraid of him, but why should a creature as sad and confused as him invoke fear. They were the ones who scared him, and he was the one who should be throwing the first attack. He moved closer to the gate. His arm twitched as his entire body jolted to the wall. He had a soldier trapped in his arm. Tentacles oozed from it ready to strike with there razor like structure. IT cut through the mans armour and revealed small beads of blood. His eyes twitched with his fear, as he closed them, the next thing he knew, the armour was gone, he was in a t shirt and jeans.

He awoke and headed out the gate, he would ehad to the mountains next. As he placed his hands on the gate, he heard almost a whistle. It was like a scream in his mind echoing the words. ”Stop, please”
